This was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KOMACHI_ENSAKA\/status\/1508748998597033987\">reported<\/a> by an insider from Japan using the handle KOMACHI_ENSAKA.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the system is based on AMD-made PlayStation 5 SoC chips (Ariel\/Oberon) with a defective central processor.<\/p>\n<p>Because the device&#8217;s specifications do not specify a particular processor, experts <a href=\"https:\/\/videocardz.com\/newz\/amd-is-selling-broken-playstation-5-apus-to-cryptominers\">speculate<\/a> that the basic CPU functionality is preserved, at least on some of the APUs.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, AMD had already adapted PS5 APUs with the graphics processor disabled for ordinary PCs, calling it the AMD 4700S.<\/p>\n<p>The ASRock Mining Rig Barebone device includes twelve AMD BC-250 chips.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/TAgYIUG-2kR_Iho_PJsUIq_YQKrwz6Wi8MjPFcUu7rCawDJ_1V2vVyVvObNR3okzzfFYMvBx0gGTAJRADN2IYdddc1ykopvcjNSi0i5_TnLmv5qv7Y6nu5x5HlOGUrIjUc9A5wst\" alt=\"Hybrid PS5 CPUs tested in Ethereum and TON mining\"\/><figcaption>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bolha.com\/strezniki\/asrock-mining-rig-barebone-610-mhs-12x-amd-bc-250-oglas-8823338#base-entity-data-tab\">Bolha<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The total system performance is 610 MH\/s \u2014 the hash rate of a single APU is nearly 51 MH\/s. According to available <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hashrate.no\/bc250\">estimates<\/a>, each chip can yield around $2 per day when mining Ethereum and TON.<\/p>\n<p>The device is available for purchase in several European stores at a price of \u20ac13,499.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/media-reports-amd-to-release-gpus-for-cryptocurrency-mining\">In November 2020<\/a> media reports circulated about AMD&#8217;s planned mining GPUs.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2021, a Vietnamese insider <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/images-of-amd-mining-gpu-leaked-online\">published photographs<\/a> of the first AMD mining GPU. The unnamed device is based on the 7nm Navi 21 graphics core \u2014 the same architecture underpins AMD&#8217;s latest chips.
