The <span data-descr=\"UK Financial Conduct Authority\" class=\"old_tooltip\">FCA<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fca.org.uk\/firms\/financial-crime\/cryptoassets-aml-ctf-regime#revisions\">said<\/a> the regulator would make an exception for a small number of firms whose applications had not been fully processed.<\/p>\n<p>The UK <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/uk-introduces-temporary-registration-regime-for-crypto-firms\">introduced a temporary registration regime<\/a> for crypto firms in December 2020. In June 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/uk-extends-temporary-registration-regime-for-cryptoasset-firms\">the programme was extended<\/a> to 31 March 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Companies that have not obtained permanent licences by 1 April will be forced to cease operations in the country. Otherwise the FCA will initiate criminal and civil enforcement actions against them.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We have completed the assessment; on 1 April the temporary registration regime will close to all, except for a small number of firms that must continue to participate in the programme. Such cases include when a company has filed an appeal or has special circumstances for ceasing activity,&#8221; a FCA spokesperson said in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2022-03-30\/fca-extends-key-crypto-deadline-for-revolut-11-other-applicants?sref=AACmJ2tc\">Bloomberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>As reported in March 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/british-regulator-reports-investigations-into-50-crypto-firms\">the FCA said it was conducting investigations<\/a>, including criminal cases, into 50 crypto-industry companies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From 1 April 2022, the temporary registration regime for crypto firms will cease to apply in the UK.
