In the course of the investigation into the REvil hacker group, the Russian Interior Ministry confiscated large sums in rubles, dollars, euros and cryptocurrency. Deputy Interior Minister Sergei Lebedev told \u00ab\u0418\u043d\u0442\u0435\u0440\u0444\u0430\u043a\u0441\u0443\u00bb in an interview.<\/p>\n
According to him, as part of the investigation, more than 300 million rubles, $950,000, more than \u20ac1 million, and 19.9 BTC were seized.<\/p>\n
He said investigators have conducted more than 50 interrogations and 26 searches, with 16 technical- and computer-forensic examinations underway.<\/p>\n
Suspected REvil members, who are under arrest, may be involved in theft of funds from U.S. individuals and companies, Lebedev added.<\/p>\n
Earlier in January, the FSB announced the liquidation of the REvil group<\/a> and the detention of its members. A Moscow court ordered eight alleged hackers held in custody.<\/p>\n Experts described REvil (also known as Sodinokibi) as one of the world’s largest hacking groups.
