{"id":59693,"date":"2022-04-06T13:57:42","date_gmt":"2022-04-06T10:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=59693"},"modified":"2025-09-04T23:15:35","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T20:15:35","slug":"u-s-charges-one-hydra-administrator","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/u-s-charges-one-hydra-administrator\/","title":{"rendered":"U.S. charges one Hydra administrator"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United States District Court for the Northern District of California <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/press-release\/file\/1490906\/download\">has filed<\/a> an indictment against one of Hydra&#8217;s dark-net marketplace administrators.<\/p>\n<p>A Russian national, Dmitry Pavlov, is charged with administering the platform, providing hosting services for it, conspiring to launder money and to distribute drugs.<\/p>\n<p>According to investigators, Hydra was created around 2015 as a partnership between Russian drug-related online forums Wayaway and LegalRC. From 2013 to the present, Pavlov provided hosting services for these two platforms. Since November 2015, he also managed Hydra&#8217;s leased servers through the Russian hosting company Promservice.<\/p>\n<p>Pavlov repeatedly received cryptocurrency payments from Hydra wallets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe defendant facilitated Hydra&#8217;s activities and enabled it to receive millions of dollars from illegal sales conducted through the site,\u201d the indictment says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the document, from January 2016 to March 2022, cryptocurrencies totaling about $5.2 billion were sent to Hydra-controlled wallets. In 2021, the platform accounted for about 80% of all crypto transactions related to the dark web.<\/p>\n<p>If convicted, all of Pavlov&#8217;s assets obtained from illegal activity will be seized for the United States.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-text-wrappers-update-2 article_update\"><time class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_time\">April 6, 2022 | 17:03<\/time><span class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_head\">Update: <\/span><\/p>\n<p>In a BBC interview, Dmitry Pavlov <a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/bbcrussian\/26316\">said<\/a> that American authorities had not contacted him, and that he learned of the charges from a journalist.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe are a hosting company and have all the necessary Roskomnadzor licensing. We do not administer any platforms at all, but only provide servers for rent as intermediaries, reselling services.
