Mining activity in Russia should be permitted only for legal entities, said Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, in an \u0438\u043d\u0442\u0435\u0440\u0432\u044c\u044e<\/a> \u00ab\u0418\u0437\u0432\u0435\u0441\u0442\u0438\u044f\u043c\u00bb.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he believes that cryptocurrency mining should be carried out in energy-rich regions.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cMining should be undertaken only by legal entities \u2014 it must be a regulated business,\u201d the deputy noted.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Aksakov also proposed regulating cryptocurrency taxation along the lines of the ‘financial segment’:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI believe that, in the case of mining, taxation should be close to that established in the market for goods and services: VAT and corporate income tax should be introduced.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

According to the deputy, the bill is expected to be submitted to the State Duma in May.<\/p>\n

The definition of mining and the basic regulatory mechanisms are laid out in the Ministry of Finance’s On Digital Currency<\/a> draft.<\/p>\n

In early April, the revised draft<\/a> of the law was sent to the government.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Ministry of Energy said that it would be more appropriate to allocate mining sites at the regional level rather than the federal level<\/a>. At the same time, a representative of the Finance Ministry, Alexei Yakovlev, spoke of the futility of banning<\/a> home cryptocurrency mining.<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Construction proposed establishing an experimental legal regime<\/a> for cryptocurrency mining.<\/p>\n
