Until now in Panama there was nothing like this,&#8221; \u2014 Silva stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He added that more than half of the country\u2019s residents are not covered by the banking system, but the &#8220;crypto law&#8221; is intended to help them.<\/p>\n<p>According to the document, cryptocurrencies in Panama are an acceptable form of payment &#8220;for any legal civil or commercial transaction&#8221;, including the payment of taxes, duties and other charges payable to the state.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Crypto law&#8221; also officially recognises decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs) as legal entities. In addition, the issuance of tokenised securities and commodities is regulated through <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-security-tokens-and-security-token-offerings-stos\">STO<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Silva completed work on the bill <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/panama-introduces-bill-to-regulate-cryptocurrencies\">in September 2021<\/a>. He said the initiative would create &#8220;thousands of jobs&#8221;, attract investment and &#8220;make the government transparent&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>As reported, El Salvador <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/el-salvador-legalises-bitcoin-as-government-buys-550-btc\">became the first country<\/a> to recognise Bitcoin as legal tender.
