That view was voiced by Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse during a panel discussion at the Davos forum, according to<a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/wef-2022-ripple-ceo-reveals-he-visited-sec-several-times-before-lawsuit-struck\"> Cointelegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He said that a regulatory framework is needed that would embody the core principles of &#8216;transparency and certainty&#8217;.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;But when the rules of the game are unclear, it&#8217;s very hard to deal with this,&#8221; Garlinghouse said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Ripple CEO stressed that he personally visited the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) &#8220;four or five times in the years preceding their decision to file suit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;This shows how far the United States lags behind the G20,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Garlinghouse named Switzerland, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and Japan as countries with more favourable regulation for technological innovation.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2020, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ripple-threatens-to-leave-the-united-states-over-excessive-cryptocurrency-regulation\"> stated<\/a> plans to move the company&#8217;s office to Europe or Asia due to excessive regulation of the cryptocurrency industry in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Garlinghouse explained that Ripple<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/brad-garlinghouse-explains-delay-in-ripples-relocation-from-the-united-states\"> had adopted a wait-and-see stance<\/a> on changing jurisdiction \u2014 management wanted to understand how the situation would change with the start of President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the year the SEC<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sec-files-suit-against-ripple\"> filed a lawsuit against Ripple<\/a>, Garlinghouse and Larsen. The company called the regulator&#8217;s actions a &#8216;attack&#8217; on the entire cryptocurrency industry in the country, and its CEO \u2014 &#8216;a terrible precedent&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The proceedings in the case are ongoing.
