{"id":62660,"date":"2022-06-09T08:46:41","date_gmt":"2022-06-09T05:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=62660"},"modified":"2025-09-05T19:20:50","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T16:20:50","slug":"lithuania-tightens-regulation-of-the-crypto-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/lithuania-tightens-regulation-of-the-crypto-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Lithuania tightens regulation of the crypto industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lithuanian government approved amendments to anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing legislation concerning the regulation of the cryptocurrency market. <a href=\"https:\/\/finmin.lrv.lt\/lt\/naujienos\/kriptoturto-sektoriuje-skaidruma-didinantys-istatymo-pakeitimai\">\u0441\u043e\u043e\u0431\u0449\u0438\u043b<\/a> the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n<p>The bill sets clearer requirements for user identification and bans on anonymous accounts.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the plan calls for increasing the minimum share capital for service providers to \u20ac125,000 and specifying requirements for senior managers in such firms \u2014 for example, that they be residents of Lithuania.<\/p>\n<p>The document provides that from 1 February 2023, cryptocurrency exchange operators will be publicly listed in the Companies Register.<\/p>\n<p>The changes are expected to increase transparency in the sector and reduce money-laundering risks. Lithuanian Finance Minister Gintar\u0117 Skaist\u0117 also noted that authorities must prevent attempts to bypass sanctions on Russia using crypto assets.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ministry, after tightening crypto regulation in Estonia, many firms moved to Lithuania.
