This was stated by former <span data-descr=\"Central Intelligence Agency\" class=\"old_tooltip\">\u0426\u0420\u0423<\/span> and <span data-descr=\"National Security Agency\" class=\"old_tooltip\">\u0410\u041d\u0411<\/span> employee Edward Snowden at Consensus 2022, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2022\/06\/11\/edward-snowden-says-use-crypto-dont-invest-in-it\/\">CoinDesk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cI use Bitcoin to use it. In 2013 I used the asset for pseudonymous payments for servers. Overall, I am not urging people to invest their money in cryptocurrencies as a technology, and that is what distinguishes me from many other participants in the community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Snowden joined the critique of the &#8216;anti-cryptocurrency&#8217; letter that a group of tech professionals sent to the US Congress in early June <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/tech-community-criticises-anti-crypto-letter-to-us-congress\">to the US Congress<\/a>. In his view, the authors deliberately misinterpret some theses about the industry.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe letter is an argument in favour of the status quo. There are many ways to address all of their problems. All signatories of the letter can understand the industry. They certainly should,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Among the authors of the letter he singled out cryptographer Bruce Schneier. However, he described most of the other signatories as &#8216;prolific public trolls.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>On his Twitter page Snowden also called gold \u201ca Bitcoin that cannot be sent over the internet.\u201d Paolo Ardoino, Tether\u2019s chief technology officer, replied.
