Her whereabouts have been unknown since 2017.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThere are so many victims worldwide who have been financially harmed by this. We want to bring her to justice,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The FBI has offered a reward of up to $100,000 for information about the founder of the pyramid. Authorities say Ignatova has ties to Bulgaria, Germany, Russia, Greece and the UAE.<\/p>\n<p>Ruja Ignatova founded the OneCoin pyramid in 2014 together with Sebastian Greenwood.<\/p>\n<p>The project was initially pitched as a high-yield cryptocurrency, with investors earning profits not only from the asset\u2019s growth but also from recruiting new participants.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2019, a United States court for the Southern District of New York found OneCoin lawyer Mark Scott <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/yurist-finansovoj-piramidy-onecoin-priznan-vinovnym-v-otmyvanii-400-mln\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">guilty of laundering nearly $400 million<\/a>. Ignatova was charged in the United States in absentia.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2019, Konstantin Ignatov, the brother of the OneCoin founder, was detained at Los Angeles International Airport. He subsequently <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/brat-osnovatelnitsy-onecoin-priznal-vinu-emu-grozit-do-90-let-tyurmy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pleaded guilty to several counts<\/a>, facing up to 90 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. government <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/pravitelstvo-ssha-dobilos-otsrochki-prigovora-organizatora-onecoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">obtained a postponement of sentencing<\/a> for Ignatova, saying that cooperation with him is not yet finished.<\/p>\n<p>One of the defendants in the investors\u2019 class-action suit against the pyramid\u2019s organizers was <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/bny-mellon-obvinili-v-prichastnosti-k-kriptovalyutnoj-piramide-onecoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bank of New York Mellon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2021, Italian authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/promouterov-piramidy-onecoin-v-italii-obvinili-v-moshennichestve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charged 14 people<\/a>, connected with OneCoin, with fraud.
