{"id":6387,"date":"2018-12-31T16:16:28","date_gmt":"2018-12-31T16:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.media\/?p=6387"},"modified":"2019-01-02T09:56:01","modified_gmt":"2019-01-02T09:56:01","slug":"bakkt-raises-182-5m-funding-from-major-vc-investors-bitcoin-futures-platform-launch-to-be-delayed-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/bakkt-raises-182-5m-funding-from-major-vc-investors-bitcoin-futures-platform-launch-to-be-delayed-again\/","title":{"rendered":"Bakkt Raises $182.5M Funding from Major VC Investors, Bitcoin Futures Platform Launch to be Delayed Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bakkt, the cryptocurrency platform by Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), has announced on the New Year\u2019s Eve that is has completed its first round of funding, raising $182.5 million from 12 partners and investors.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The partners and investors in the first round include Boston Consulting Group, CMT Digital, Eagle Seven, Galaxy Digital, Goldfinch Partners, Alan Howard, Horizons Ventures, Intercontinental Exchange, Microsoft\u2019s venture capital arm, M12, Pantera Capital, PayU, the fintech arm of Naspers, and Protocol Ventures.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We are pleased to confirm that we have completed our first round of funding of $182.5 million <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Cc2EsoQMcT\">https:\/\/t.co\/Cc2EsoQMcT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bakkt (@Bakkt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Bakkt\/status\/1079754096226304002?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 31, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Bakkt CEO Kelly Loeffler said in a statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>\u201cOur work today is centered on driving institutional access for digital assets, along with merchant and consumer uses, and we\u2019re already expanding on this vision, collaborating with great companies like Starbucks in these efforts\u201d.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bakkt originally was preparing to launch a new futures market for Bitcoin at the end of 2018, but that has been <a href=\"http:\/\/forklog.media\/bakkt-sees-most-demand-in-bitcoin-as-the-futures-platform-launch-delayed-until-january-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pushed back<\/a> due to both regulatory hurdles and the company\u2019s commitment to releasing a platform that is fully functional on day one.
