This is roughly 18% higher than in the previous month.<\/p>\n<p>The firm also raised its hashrate to 2.5 EH\/s. As of the end of May, the figure stood at 1.7 EH\/s.<\/p>\n<p>As of 30 June Greenidge operated a fleet of 27,500 miners, with another 200 devices on order. About 24% of the company&#8217;s computing power is located at the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/greenidge-generation-to-invest-264-million-in-new-bitcoin-mining-venture\">facility in Spartanburg<\/a> (South Carolina).<\/p>\n<p>In early June, environmentalists and New York Assembly member Anna Kelles urged Governor Kathy Hochul <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/environmentalists-call-for-revocation-of-greenidge-generations-operating-permit\">to revoke Greenidge&#8217;s mining permit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the month, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation rejected the pending application to extend the company&#8217;s existing operating permit. Greenidge said the Dresden site would continue to operate while the firm appeals the agency&#8217;s decision in court.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, both chambers of the New York Assembly <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/new-york-state-senate-backs-two-year-mining-moratorium\">backed a bill<\/a> proposing a two-year moratorium on cryptocurrency mining that uses electricity generated from carbon-based sources. The measure awaits the governor&#8217;s signature.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/new-york-assembly-approves-two-year-moratorium-on-crypto-mining\">statements by<\/a> the sponsor of the bill, Kelles, it does not ban cryptocurrency mining and would affect only a limited number of energy facilities.<\/p>\n<p>Greenidge operates mining at a hybrid power plant located on the shores of Seneca Lake.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021 the company <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/new-york-residents-accuse-greenidge-generation-of-environmental-violations\">faced accusations<\/a> of environmental harm.
