Meta has unveiled a new chronological feed for the Facebook social network that disables the recommendation algorithms.<\/p>\n

The new ‘Feeds’ tab shows posts from friends, groups and pages the user follows.<\/p>\n

Meta also updated the ‘Home’ section, which is still driven by recommendation algorithms. Users will see content, including from people and public groups they do not follow.<\/p>\n

The tabs will roll out in Facebook’s Android and iOS apps over the next week. The Home section will open by default, though users will be able to pin Feeds to the quick-access bar.<\/p>\n

Earlier the tech giant had attempted to keep users on the social network by presenting content chronologically. In March 2021, Facebook gave users quick access to the ‘Most recent’ setting for the News Feed.<\/p>\n

In October 2021, former Facebook employee Frances Haugen accused the company of deliberate use of algorithms<\/a> to inflame hatred for profit.<\/p>\n

In the same month, Facebook agreed to provide regulators with access to content-ranking tools<\/a> to prove their harmlessness.<\/p>\n

In July 2022, the European Parliament passed a law obliging social networks to ensure transparency of recommendation algorithms<\/a>.<\/p>\n
