{"id":64891,"date":"2022-07-26T11:58:07","date_gmt":"2022-07-26T08:58:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=64891"},"modified":"2025-09-06T16:55:42","modified_gmt":"2025-09-06T13:55:42","slug":"the-internet-of-a-new-generation-how-kucoin-is-implementing-web3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/the-internet-of-a-new-generation-how-kucoin-is-implementing-web3\/","title":{"rendered":"The Internet of a New Generation: How KuCoin Is Implementing Web3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The modern Internet has a number of drawbacks: centralized data storage makes possible <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/hackers-claim-data-leak-affecting-1-billion-chinese-citizens-database-valued-at-10-btc\">theft<\/a> of confidential information, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/russian-users-report-issues-accessing-proton-vpn-and-nordvpn\">restricted<\/a> access to services, and <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/global-cloudflare-outage-hits-bitcoin-exchanges\">outages<\/a> in network operation due to problems on the provider side.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Together with <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kucoin.com\/ru\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KuCoin<\/a> we discuss the next generation of the Internet and its role in the platform&#8217;s ecosystem.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Web1, Web2, and Web3 Are<\/h2>\n<p>The Internet is continually evolving: developers are implementing new data-transfer protocols and ways of interacting with users. <\/p>\n<p>Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the URL protocol and HTTP, in his book \u201cOrigins and the Future of the World Wide Web\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/People\/Berners-Lee\/Weaving\/Overview.html\">highlighted<\/a> two generations of the Internet, and later members of the WWW Consortium <a href=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/2007\/Talks\/0123-sb-W3CEmergingTech\/Overviewp.pdf\">defined<\/a> the third:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Web1<\/strong> \u2014 static-content websites: text, links, images. The content of pages changes only on reload;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Web2<\/strong> \u2014 interactive websites and web applications. Pages display personalized content created from data about visitors&#8217; behavior and preferences;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Web3 <\/strong>\u2014 decentralized sites and applications. Users own their digital data and private information.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With the popularisation of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, Web3 gained elements of a digital economy: payments without intermediaries, smart contracts in place of agreements, and monetisation of data through NFTs.<\/p>\n<p>The KuCoin team is convinced that the Internet of the next generation should be decentralised and user-friendly:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe share the vision of a Web3 Internet that belongs to the people and is built for the people,\u201d said the KuCoin chief executive Johnny Lyu.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>For this reason, KuCoin is integrating Web3 elements into existing and new products \u2014 the KuCoin Wallet, Windvane NFT marketplace, Wonderland gaming NFT platform, and other services across the ecosystem.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KuCoin Wallet<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/kuwallet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KuCoin Wallet<\/a> \u2014 a cryptocurrency wallet for mobile devices. Its security was tested beforehand by Hacken.<\/p>\n<p>The developers\u2019 plans include integrating KuCoin Wallet with the Windvane marketplace. After that, users will be able to create NFTs and trade them directly in the app.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Windvane<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/windvane.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Windvane<\/a> \u2014 a decentralized NFT marketplace from KuCoin. Users can mint non-fungible tokens, trade, issue collections and conduct INO (Initial NFT Offering).<\/p>\n<p>The platform supports NFTs based on Ethereum, BNB Chain, and KuCoin Community Chain (KCC).<\/p>\n<p>Windvane launched on May 30. External developers can create alternative apps to access Windvane and the tokens hosted there.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, KuCoin\u2019s investment arm and Windvane <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kucoin.com\/news\/kucoin-nft-marketplace-windvane-and-kucoin-ventures-are-launching-a-$100m-creators-fund-to-web-3.0-world\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">launched<\/a> the Creators Funds with $100 million in capital. The fund supports and promotes NFT creators across various themes: eSports, [simple_tooltip content=\u2019Profile Picture \u2014 avatar of a user on social networks.\u2019]<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PFP<\/span>[\/simple_tooltip] and GameFi.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Creators Funds is selecting artists who will share the $100 million and receive marketing support from KuCoin and Windvane. To participate in the competition, you need to fill out the <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSe98e3wiPkqOBexZjY17zdvKbM3l_qDOqJckChNVNj-uP5Q9g\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wonderland<\/h2>\n<p><a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kucoin.com\/spot-nft\/main\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wonderland<\/a> \u2014 a platform for gaming NFTs. Its users can buy loot boxes, characters, skins, accessories, weapons, and other items, as well as sell and rent in-game assets.<\/p>\n<p>The service provides access to NFTs for casual blockchain games of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/monetising-entertainment-how-gamefi-is-changing-the-gaming-paradigm\">Play-to-Earn<\/a> format. Among them:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kucoin.com\/spot-nft\/igo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pikaster<\/a> \u2014 a card battler platform. Players fight fictional creatures \u2014 Pikasters. Each Pikaster is an NFT that can be rented, bought or sold. In battle, players earn tokens for staking or additional profits;<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kucoin.com\/spot-nft\/project\/6263eed0c94d5b000108c972\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CEBG<\/a> (Crypto Elite\u2019s Battlegrounds) \u2014 anime-style battle multiplayer with [simple_tooltip content=\u2019Player versus player \u2014 battles between two or more human-controlled characters\u2019]PvP-[\/simple_tooltip] and [simple_tooltip content=\u2019Player versus environment \u2014 battles with computer-controlled enemies\u2019]PvE-[\/simple_tooltip] modes. Players receive a single NFT-hero for battles, and then can find new game characters and items;<\/li>\n<li><a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kucoin.com\/spot-nft\/project\/6275705251f2630001e5c92e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">X Rush<\/a> \u2014 a racing arcade with shooting across multiple metaverses. Players collect NFT racers, upgrade cars and compete with each other.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">KuCoin Community Chain<\/h2>\n<p>KuCoin apps run on the public EVM-compatible blockchain <a class=\"tracking_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kcc.io\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KuCoin Community Chain (KCC)<\/a> with a Proof-of-Staked-Authority (PoSA) consensus algorithm. When selecting a validator, the network takes into account its identifier and stake size.<\/p>\n<p>KuCoin Token (KCS) \u2014 the native token of the ecosystem for paying transaction fees, which average about $0.00000002637.
