The developers of the second-largest cryptocurrency have preliminarily <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-approve-pos-transition-timetable-cryptocurrency-up-12\">scheduled for September<\/a> The Merge upgrade, during which the blockchain will switch to the <span data-descr=\"Proof-of-Stake\" class=\"old_tooltip\">PoS<\/span> consensus.<\/p>\n<p>After the upgrade, miners will no longer be able to mine ETH. It is expected that they will switch to ETC.<\/p>\n<p>In early July, Bitmain <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bitmain-announces-start-of-sales-for-ethereum-miner-antminer-e9\">began selling<\/a> the Antminer E9 devices for Ethash-based mining. A company spokesman announced at the conference that the manufacturer would accept payment in ETC for all Antminer models.<\/p>\n<p>Over the last 24 hours, the price rose by 15.8% (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/\">CoinGecko<\/a>). The metric trails only Bitcoin-based funds ($13.9 billion) and Ethereum ($4.2 billion). ETC sits 22nd by market capitalization.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, the Ethereum Classic network <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-classic-hit-by-another-51-attack\">undergone<\/a> several <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-51-attack\">51% attacks<\/a>.
