This was reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiatoday.in\/india\/story\/enforcement-directorate-freezes-assets-of-cryptocurrency-exchange-vauld-1986888-2022-08-11\">India Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The agency did not provide official comments. Vauld representatives told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/policy\/2022\/08\/12\/indian-authorities-freeze-nearly-46m-assets-of-troubled-crypto-lender-vauld-report\/\">CoinDesk<\/a> that they were reviewing the matter.<\/p>\n<p>On July 4, the company <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.news\/podderzhivaemaya-piterom-tilem-kriptolendingovaya-platforma-vauld-priostanovila-operatsii\/\">announced a suspension of operations<\/a> and possible restructuring due to financial difficulties. The following day it emerged that competitor <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.news\/smi-nexo-dogovorilsya-o-priobretenii-kriptolendingovoj-platformy-vauld\/\">Nexo had signed a preliminary agreement to acquire Vauld<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Later, citing court documents, reports indicated that Vauld&#8217;s outstanding debt after these events amounted to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.news\/kriptolendingovaya-platforma-vauld-zadolzhala-402-mln-kreditoram\/\">$402 million<\/a>, of which $363 million was owed to retail investors.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/tech\/technology\/ed-probing-crypto-exchanges-for-alleged-laundering-of-over-rs-1000-crore\/articleshow\/93486220.cms\">Economic Times<\/a>, the regulator is investigating ten crypto platforms for allegedly helping foreign firms launder money using cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate of the Indian Ministry of Finance suspected WazirX <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.news\/prinadlezhaduyu-binance-indijskuyu-birzhu-wazirx-zapodozrili-v-otmyvanii-350-mln\/\">in laundering $350 million<\/a>.
