{"id":65828,"date":"2022-08-15T14:38:54","date_gmt":"2022-08-15T11:38:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=65828"},"modified":"2025-09-06T22:08:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-06T19:08:20","slug":"revolut-to-start-offering-crypto-services-in-cyprus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/revolut-to-start-offering-crypto-services-in-cyprus\/","title":{"rendered":"Revolut to start offering crypto services in Cyprus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Revolut, the fintech company, has received approval from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission that will allow it to offer cryptocurrency services in the European Economic Area (EEA). <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2022\/08\/15\/revolut-receives-nod-from-cyprus-regulator-to-offer-crypto-services\/\\\">CoinDesk reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Access to the company\u2019s products will be available to 17 million customers in the EEA.<\/p>\n<p>According to Revolut representatives, the choice of jurisdiction reflects a rigorous regulatory regime. Previously the island nation attracted crypto firms such as <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/crypto-com-secures-digital-asset-service-provider-licence-in-south-korea\">Crypto.com<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/etoro-clients-plan-to-sue-platform-over-crypto-cfd-closures\">eToro<\/a> and Bitpanda.<\/p>\n<p>In the run-up to the regulation bill for cryptocurrencies, <span data-descr=\\\"Markets in Crypto Assets, markets in crypto assets\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">MiCA<\/span> crypto firms are seeking to establish legal entities in EU countries to ensure the ability to provide services in the region.<\/p>\n<p>MiCA is designed to provide robust consumer protection and to curb fraud, money laundering and other financial crimes in the crypto industry.<\/p>\n<p>While awaiting registration with the UK&#8217;s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Revolut will continue to serve local customers under the temporary registration regime.<\/p>\n<p>The total number of Revolut users now stands at nearly 20 million.
