This, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/ria.ru\/20220815\/vinnik-1809856914.html\">\u0441\u043e\u043e\u0431\u0449\u0430\u0435\u0442<\/a> RIA Novosti, citing Judge Sally Kim.<\/p>\n<p>Until then, Vinnik will remain in custody at Santa Rita Jail in California.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected that his interests will be represented by a public defender \u2013 attorney David Rizk.<\/p>\n<p>In the United States, Vinnik faces up to 55 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Alexander Vinnik was detained in Greece in the summer of 2017. In 2020 he was extradited to France, where he was later sentenced <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/alexander-vinnik-sentenced-to-five-years-in-prison-and-a-e100000-fine\">to five years in prison and a fine of \u20ac100,000<\/a> for money laundering. The charges of extortion and creating the Locky ransomware were dropped.<\/p>\n<p>In early August 2022, the Russian national <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/vinnik-transported-to-the-united-states-shortly-after-extradition-to-greece\">was brought to the United States<\/a>.
