{"id":66923,"date":"2022-09-09T13:40:46","date_gmt":"2022-09-09T10:40:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=66923"},"modified":"2025-09-07T03:52:49","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T00:52:49","slug":"china-launches-crackdown-on-copyright-infringement-in-nft-creation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/china-launches-crackdown-on-copyright-infringement-in-nft-creation\/","title":{"rendered":"China launches crackdown on copyright infringement in NFT creation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Copyright Administration of China (CNAC) intends to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncac.gov.cn\/chinacopyright\/contents\/12222\/356942.shtml\">tighten penalties<\/a> for the unauthorized use of others&#8217; artworks to create NFTs.<\/p>\n<p>Creators of non-fungible token (NFT) collections will be prohibited from creating them based on music, animation, games, films and television content without the copyright holder&#8217;s permission.<\/p>\n<p>The tightening of copyright enforcement in the context of innovative technologies is being carried out under the special campaign &#8220;Jianwan 2022&#8221;. It will also affect the education, sports, news and streaming online platforms segments.<\/p>\n<p>CNAC believes that standardising regulation will give a boost to local entrepreneurship and attract international business to the country&#8217;s market.<\/p>\n<p>The Jianwan 2022 campaign is conducted jointly with the Ministry of Public Security and the Cyberspace Administration of China, and will run from September to November.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in July, Chinese tech giants Tencent Holdings, Baidu, JD.com, Ant Group and several other companies adopted a &#8216;self-discipline&#8217; initiative <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/alibaba-baidu-and-tencent-to-require-kyc-for-nft-buyers\">to curb NFT market speculation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, in autumn 2021, Tencent and Ant Group <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/media-ant-group-and-tencent-distance-themselves-from-the-term-nft\">changed the term NFT<\/a> to &#8216;digital collectibles&#8217;.
