However, according to him, the phone number listed there had previously been flagged as fraudulent.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe are studying this and are in touch with regulators. We believe that the fraudster is impersonating FTX. The phone numbers listed by the FCA do not belong to the exchange,\u201d said the spokesperson.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>Earlier in spring 2022, FTX began <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ftx-to-enter-uk-spot-crypto-market-after-regulators-approval\">talks with UK regulators<\/a> as part of its expansion into the European market.<\/p>\n<p>Due to <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/uk-regulator-bans-sale-of-cryptocurrency-derivatives-to-retail-investors\">the ban on the sale of crypto derivatives<\/a> in the country, which forms the exchange&#8217;s core offering, the platform pivoted to the spot market.<\/p>\n<p>FTX <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ftx-announces-expansion-into-european-markets\">established a European subsidiary<\/a> in March. Its headquarters are in Switzerland, with regional representation in Cyprus, where the entity obtained a license from the financial regulator.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2021 the FCA <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/uk-regulator-bans-binance-from-operating-in-the-country\">banned<\/a> the exchange&#8217;s local operations.
