The deal was worth 40 million <span data-descr=\"Singapore dollars\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SGD<\/span> ($28.4 million), Bloomberg reports, citing sources.<\/p>\n<p>Le Freeport (formerly Singapore Freeport) <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Le_Freeport\">is located<\/a> near Changi Airport. It was modelled after facilities in Geneva and Luxembourg. The concept of a freeport is the storage of valuables and goods deemed transitory and therefore not subject to taxes and duties.<\/p>\n<p>According to the publication, the deal closed in July. The interlocutors described the transaction as private.<\/p>\n<p>Bitdeer chief executive Jihan Wu confirmed the acquisition of Le Freeport in response to Bloomberg&#8217;s inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>The provider operates data centres in the United States and Norway and offers services for procuring equipment for cryptocurrency mining, logistics, hosting, and cloud mining.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2020, Bitmain founders Jihan Wu and Micree Zhang <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/jihan-wu-to-receive-600m-severance-as-he-exits-bitmain\">reached an agreement<\/a> to settle a lengthy feud.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2021 Wu <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/jihan-wu-steps-down-as-bitmain-chief-executive\">left Bitmain<\/a>, receiving $600 million in severance, the BTC.com mining pool and Bitdeer.
