The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/futures-giant-cme-considers-brokerage-taking-cue-from-crypto-rival-ftx-11664592510\"> Wall Street Journal<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the FTX <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/goldman-sachs-proposed-cooperation-with-ftx-ft-reports\">has approached<\/a> the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CFTC<\/span> with a similar idea to register as<a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/terms\/f\/fcm.asp\"> <span data-descr=\"futures commission merchant\" class=\"old_tooltip\">FCM<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Block <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/174269\/after-ftx-us-cme-group-proposes-direct-derivatives-trading-wsj\"> The Block<\/a> reminded us that in May, during congressional hearings, CME Group CEO Terrence Duffy spoke out against the FTX proposal. He called it &#8220;a false statement about innovations that are little more than cost-cutting mechanisms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The WSJ noted that approval of CME&#8217;s bid could undermine the FCM business, which would have to contend with lower fees from the new rival.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the exchange<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/cme-group-launches-ethereum-options\">launched<\/a> Ethereum options.<\/p>\n<p>In August, CME Group <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/cme-group-launches-euro-denominated-futures-on-bitcoin-and-ethereum\">announced the listing of<\/a> euro-denominated futures on the second-largest cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>In July, clients of the US arm of the bitcoin exchange FTX<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ftx-us-opens-stock-trading-to-all-clients\">gained access<\/a> to trading traditional stocks.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas suggested that the SEC&#8217;s approval of the change in the clearing-model in the FTX filing<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/opinion-sec-backing-of-clearing-model-change-could-clear-the-way-for-a-spot-bitcoin-etf\"> would remove<\/a> barriers to a spot Bitcoin ETF.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/\/telegram.me\/forklog\u201d\" target=\"\u201c_blank\u201d\" rel=\"\u201cnofollow\u201d noopener\">Telegram<\/a> \u2014 crypto news, prices and analysis.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME Group) has sent regulators a proposal that envisions trading derivatives without intermediaries.
