{"id":68410,"date":"2022-10-11T16:34:58","date_gmt":"2022-10-11T13:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=68410"},"modified":"2025-09-07T13:58:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-07T10:58:07","slug":"google-cloud-platform-to-start-accepting-payments-through-coinbase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/google-cloud-platform-to-start-accepting-payments-through-coinbase\/","title":{"rendered":"Google Cloud Platform to start accepting payments through Coinbase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The tech giant Google will allow some customers to pay for cloud services with cryptocurrencies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinbase.com\/blog\/announcing-coinbase-google-cloud\">via Coinbase<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the strategic partnership, the exchange will use Google Cloud instead of Amazon Web Services to process blockchain data.<\/p>\n<p>In early 2023, crypto payments will be available to several <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-web3\">Web3<\/a> companies. In particular, Coinbase has already integrated with the Shopify platform.<\/p>\n<p>The Coinbase Commerce processing service supports 10 digital currencies, including Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dogecoin, Ethereum and Litecoin.<\/p>\n<p>Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. However, according to Jim Migdal, the exchange&#8217;s vice president of business development, the trading platform will take a percentage of the transactions.<\/p>\n<p>Blockchain developers will be able to use Google&#8217;s public cryptographic datasets via Google BigQuery. They will run on Coinbase&#8217;s cloud nodes to optimise the creation of <span data-descr=\"decentralized applications\" class=\"old_tooltip\">dapps<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Google will also study the possibility of using Coinbase Prime for custody of cryptocurrencies and for managing the associated investment portfolio risks.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, in August, BlackRock announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/blackrock-to-offer-clients-access-to-cryptocurrencies-via-coinbase-prime\">collaboration with Coinbase Prime<\/a> to provide direct access for institutional clients to trading digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2022, Google <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/google-hires-former-paypal-executive-to-reboot-payments-division\">hired former PayPal chief Arnold Goldberg<\/a> to relaunch the payments division.
