This was stated by Walmart&#8217;s chief technology officer Suresh Kumar in an interview with<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/video\/walmart-suresh-kumar-crypto-important-163919533.html\"> Yahoo Finance<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The executive pointed to the retailer&#8217;s aim to meet rising demand for cryptocurrency-enabled transactions.<\/p>\n<p>The expert suggested the changes would extend to metaverses \u2014 \u201cin live streams, inside your social-media app\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cWhether physical or virtual goods, [cryptocurrencies] play a certain role in terms of what the customer desires. \u2026 When you discuss digital assets, that also leads into conversations about metaverses, and then about how people conduct transactions,\u201d<\/em> Kumar said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On September 26, the company announced the launch of Walmart Land and Walmart\u2019s Universe of Play \u2014 two game worlds on the Roblox platform.<\/p>\n<p>In January, ForkLog reported that the retailer was preparing<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/walmart-plans-to-enter-the-metaverse\"> to enter the realm of metaverses<\/a> with plans to create its own cryptocurrency and NFT collections.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2021 Walmart <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/walmart-posts-vacancy-for-crypto-focused-product-leader\">opened<\/a> a vacancy for a head of product related to digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the retailer <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/forbes-names-50-blockchain-using-companies-with-annual-revenue-or-market-capitalisation-over-1-billion\">made it onto<\/a> a list of billion-dollar companies actively using blockchain.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2022, Walmart&#8217;s Indian marketplace Flipkart <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/indian-online-retailer-flipkart-to-explore-metaverses-and-nfts\">created<\/a> an innovative laboratory <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-web3\"> to study options for the commercial use of Web3 technologies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p> Read ForkLog bitcoin news on our <a href=\"\/\/telegram.me\/forklog\u201d\" target=\"\u201c_blank\u201d\" rel=\"\u201cnofollow\u201d noopener\">Telegram<\/a> \u2014 cryptocurrency news, rates and analytics.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Digital assets will, in the future, play an important role in customers&#8217; payments.
