In addition to the coinbase transaction, there were 3 other transactions in the block, one of which was shielded. Congratulations again to Luxor Mining Pool (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LuxorTechTeam?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LuxorTechTeam<\/a>) for mining the first block! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/TObwkqFsn6\">https:\/\/t.co\/TObwkqFsn6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ycash Foundation (@YcashFoundation) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/YcashFoundation\/status\/1152173181899198465?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 19, 2019<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Ycash was <a href=\"https:\/\/forum.zcashcommunity.com\/t\/announcing-ycash-the-first-friendly-fork-of-the-zcash-blockchain\/33162\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first announced<\/a> in April 2019 by Zcash supporter and the founder of Ycash Foundation, Howard Loo. According to Loo, the purpose of the fork is \u201cto restore a goal\u2014mining on commodity hardware\u2014that appears to have been largely abandoned on the Zcash blockchain, and also to uphold a promise that \u201cthe Zcash Founders Reward would be forever capped at 2.1 million coins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since then, prominent leaders in the Zcash community including the project\u2019s founder Zooko Wilcox have publicly expressed their support of Loo\u2019s initiative, agreeing to disagree on certain network changes to the Founder\u2019s Reward and others that will make Ycash backwards-incompatible to Zcash.<\/p>\n<p>Ycash&#8217;s post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ycash.xyz\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">explains<\/a> that the software used for Ycash is based on the one for Zcash, which is based on the software for Bitcoin. It builds upon Zcach\u2019s codebase and its blockchain, thus sharing its blockchain history too. This means that those blocks remain the same on both blockchains. It also means that everybody who has Zcash private keys as of that block height can use them to get the same amount of Ycash.<\/p>\n<p>Ycash believes that this way the entire Zcash community, including engineers and cryptographers at the Electric Coin Company \u2013 everybody who holds Zcash \u2013 have a vested interest in the success of Ycash.<\/p>\n<p>This new project also aims to solve the privacy problem Bitcoin has by building upon the Zcash codebase. When it comes to the distribution problem, they are \u201caggressively pursuing mining on commodity hardware by all available means, including periodic changes to Ycash&#8217;s mining algorithm\u201d, distributing 90% of the coins through the free market mining process.<\/p>\n<p>Also, 5% of the coins starting at block height 570,000 is going to the Ycash Development Fund, which is managed by the nonprofit Ycash Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Zcash Foundation cleared up in a tweet, as Ycash also says on their site, that Ycash Foundation as an organization behind YEC, was independently created by Howard Loo and that the Ycash project is completely independent from the Electric Coin Company and the Zcash Foundation.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Not quite right! <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/YcashFoundation?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@YcashFoundation<\/a>, the organization behind <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24YEC&amp;src=ctag&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$YEC<\/a>, was independently created by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hloo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@hloo<\/a>. Neither the Zcash Foundation nor <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ElectricCoinCo?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ElectricCoinCo<\/a> is involved.
