Data: Qualcomm.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The developers equipped the chip with an upgraded Qualcomm AI Engine and an enhanced Hexagon neural processor. According to the company, in AI tasks the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is 4.35 times faster than its predecessor, with a 60% increase in performance per watt.<\/p>\n<p>Qualcomm says the processor can run machine-learning algorithms for object recognition, translation, and real-time transcription of speech on the device.<\/p>\n<p>Developers emphasised camera features. They say the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 can automatically enhance photos and videos in real time using semantic segmentation.<\/p>\n<p>The processor supports sensors up to 200 megapixels, the AV1 codec, and can also deliver 8K HDR video at up to 60 frames per second.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the chipset supports ray tracing in games, 5G networks, and Wi-Fi 7.<\/p>\n<p>The first smartphones based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 are expected by the end of 2022.
