At the same time the company did not plan to prohibit third parties from using the trademark provided that they &#8216;respect the term\u2019s meaning and support its core characteristics'&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;TBD listed the following as examples:&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul class=\\\"wp-block-list\\\">\n<li>decentralised and trustless systems that empower individuals;<\/li>\n<li>open-source protocols that build and invest in an ecosystem to promote decentralisation;<\/li>\n<li>solutions that help people own and control personal data in a decentralised manner;<\/li>\n<li>developers or projects creating tools for decentralised identification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>&#8220;We hope to build a coalition of companies, individuals and other stakeholders to uphold these standards so that Web5 truly becomes a public good,&#8221; TBD concluded.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Not all community members welcomed the initiative. One user called it &#8216;owning and oppressing the space through wordplay&#8217;.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"twitter-tweet\\\">\n<p lang=\\\"en\\\" dir=\\\"ltr\\\">This is the preamble for everything that has their tenets in the world needing to abide to their &#8216;Web5&#8217; trademark. The unit initially planned to create a decentralised Bitcoin exchange on Block\u2019s platform.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2022, TBD <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/jack-dorseys-company-unveils-web5-concept-for-a-decentralized-web-platform\">published the concept of a decentralised platform<\/a> with open-source Web5.
