The cryptocurrency community eagerly awaited the activation of the The Merge update, which moved the Ethereum blockchain to the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) consensus.<\/p>\n

Some believed the upgrade would be a growth driver the market so needed. Others, by contrast, thought the shift to PoS would negatively affect network characteristics and exacerbate the crisis.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, it is fair to say that both sides greatly overestimated the impact of this particular Ethereum update on the industry.<\/p>\n
