In early 2021 the figure stood at 160.<\/p>\n<p>A Blockchain.com spokesperson explained the move as an attempt to balance the company&#8217;s product offerings with demand. The persistent unfavorable market conditions forced a reduction in the company&#8217;s size, he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the publication, since April 2022 the industry has shed around <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/business\/2023\/01\/10\/coinbase-plans-to-cut-950-jobs-by-end-of-q2\/\">27,000 positions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the start of 2023, reports of layoffs at<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/coinbase-to-lay-off-20-of-staff-in-third-round-of-layoffs\"> Coinbase<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/consensys-reportedly-plans-to-lay-off-more-than-100-employees\"> ConsenSys<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/digital-currency-group-closes-hq-digital-unit\"> Genesis Trading<\/a> have emerged.<\/p>\n<p>In July Blockchain.com <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/blockchain-com-trims-a-quarter-of-its-workforce\">cut<\/a> 150 employees (~25% of their headcount at the time).<\/p>\n<p>The moves came amid potential losses of $270 million, previously lent to the hedge fund Three Arrows Capital.
