{"id":73637,"date":"2023-02-06T12:50:45","date_gmt":"2023-02-06T10:50:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=73637"},"modified":"2025-09-09T15:20:02","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T12:20:02","slug":"south-korea-regulator-publishes-guidance-on-security-tokens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/south-korea-regulator-publishes-guidance-on-security-tokens\/","title":{"rendered":"South Korea regulator publishes guidance on security tokens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Financial Services Commission of South Korea (FSC)<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fsc.go.kr\/no010101\/79386?srchCtgry=&#038;curPage=&#038;srchKey=&#038;srchText=&#038;srchBeginDt=&#038;srchEndDt=\"> \u043e\u043f\u0443\u0431\u043b\u0438\u043a\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043b\u0430<\/a> guidelines on security tokens, according to which they should be treated as securities and regulated under the Capital Markets Act.<\/p>\n<p>Such recommendations will apply to digital assets that have the characteristics listed in the document.<\/p>\n<p>The FSC may also recognise as security tokens those that provide a share in business operations, grant holders rights to dividends or residual assets, or provide profits from the business.<\/p>\n<p>Digital assets not falling under the securities definition will be regulated as regulatory assets to be developed in the future.<\/p>\n<p>The determination of compliance with the criteria for the status of security tokens will be entrusted to issuers and exchanges.
