{"id":73736,"date":"2023-02-07T17:04:21","date_gmt":"2023-02-07T15:04:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=73736"},"modified":"2025-09-09T15:55:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T12:55:11","slug":"statistica-capital-sues-signature-bank-over-ftx-collapse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/statistica-capital-sues-signature-bank-over-ftx-collapse\/","title":{"rendered":"Statistica Capital Sues Signature Bank Over FTX Collapse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The investment firm Statistica Capital has accused Signature Bank of <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ftx-group-files-for-bankruptcy-sam-bankman-fried-resigns-as-ceo\">the collapse of FTX<\/a> by enabling the exchange to commingle client funds on its blockchain network. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-02-07\/signature-bank-accused-in-lawsuit-of-overlooking-ftx-fraud?sref=AACmJ2tc\">Bloomberg<\/a> reports this.<\/p>\n<p>Signature went ahead with it, even though it had observed suspicious transfers through the Signet payment platform, the firm said in the lawsuit filed in the federal court in Manhattan.<\/p>\n<p>In December, the bank said it planned to exit up to $10 billion of client deposits from the digital-asset industry. The institution attributed the move to a policy of distancing itself from the cryptocurrency sector in the wake of the FTX collapse.<\/p>\n<p>As of 14 November 2022, FTX&#8217;s assets accounted for less than 10% of Signature&#8217;s total deposits.<\/p>\n<p>Statistica contends that the bank had &#8216;actual knowledge&#8217; of FTX&#8217;s fraudulent activities at least since 2020. Signature allegedly &#8216;substantially facilitated&#8217; the wrongdoing by publicly promoting the exchange, without closing or restricting Alameda and FTX accounts that violated the terms of service.<\/p>\n<p>The firm filed a class-action complaint seeking damages for itself and other companies that suffered losses as a result of Signature&#8217;s alleged misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>From February 1, the bank <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/binances-banking-partner-to-cap-usd-payments-by-the-exchanges-customers\">restricted for Binance<\/a> dollar SWIFT payments of customers to at least $100,000.<\/p>\n<p>The exchange said it would <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/binance-to-suspend-usd-bank-transfers\">temporarily halt<\/a> bank transfers in US dollars starting February 8.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The investment firm Statistica Capital has accused Signature Bank of facilitating the collapse of FTX by enabling the exchange to commingle client funds on its blockchain network.
