Bloomberg reports.<\/p>\n<p>Reasons were not specified.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>The department is in constant contact with supervised entities to understand vulnerabilities and risks to consumers and institutions associated with volatility in the crypto market,<\/em> \u2014 the regulator said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In 2015 the company received a BitLicense from NYDFS, <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/paxos-to-apply-for-clearing-agency-licence\"> full national trust bank charter <\/a> from the OCC. A Binance representative commented to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/210932\/paxos-will-no-longer-issue-binance-usd-stablecoin\" title=\"\">The Block<\/a> that the infrastructure company informed the exchange of regulator requirements.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAs a result, BUSD&#8217;s market capitalization will gradually decline over time. Paxos will continue to service the product, manage redemptions, and provide additional information as needed,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"wp-block-text-wrappers-update-2 article_update\"><time class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_time\">February 13, 2023 | 14:21<\/time><span class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_head\">Update: <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Paxos <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/paxos-will-halt-minting-new-busd-tokens-301744964.html\" title=\"\">announced<\/a> that it is halting its cooperation with Binance regarding BUSD. From February 21, the company will halt the minting of new tokens in line with regulator directives, but will continue supporting redemption and conversion activities at least until February 2024.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>On February 8, 2023, the firm denied reports that Paxos <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/paxos-secures-conditional-national-bank-license\"> became the holder of <\/a> a conditional license. In April 2021 Paxos<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/paxos-renames-paxos-standard-stablecoin-to-pax-dollar\"> was the issuer of<\/a> US dollars-backed stablecoin. The company emphasised that it maintains constructive relations with the regulator.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">To clarify speculation: Paxos has not been asked to withdraw its application for a national trust bank charter from the OCC, nor has it been denied the charter. Their market capitalisations are $16.2 billion and $855 million, respectively, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/categories\/stablecoins\"> CoinGecko<\/a>. They rank third and seventh in the segment by this measure. Asset backing is entirely <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/paxos-reveals-backing-for-pax-and-busd-stablecoins\"> consisting of US Treasuries and deposits in commercial banks.  <\/p>\n<p>The company also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/pax-gold\"> backs<\/a> the Pax Gold token, with a total market value of $494.4 million. The asset is backed by physical gold.<\/p>\n<p>In 2012 Paxos launched the trading platform itBit. The exchange has served as a bridge for many financial institutions, including<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/mastercard-to-provide-banks-with-tools-to-access-cryptocurrencies\"> Mastercard<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/interactive-brokers-expands-cryptocurrency-trading\"> Interactive Brokers<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.io\/platezhnyj-servis-mercadolibre-otkroet-klientam-dostup-k-kriptovalyutam\/\"> Mercado Bitcoin<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/brazils-largest-neobank-to-give-50-million-customers-access-to-cryptocurrencies\"> Nubank<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company also<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bank-of-america-joins-paxos-settlement-blockchain-platform\"> launched<\/a> Paxos Settlement Service \u2014 a blockchain platform for settlement of securities. Its clients include Bank of America, Credit Suisse, Societe Generale and the broker Instinet, a unit of the Japanese holding Nomura.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2022 the firm received<a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/usdc-and-usdp-issuers-obtain-licences-to-operate-in-singapore\"> a license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore<\/a>.
