{"id":73949,"date":"2023-02-11T14:18:49","date_gmt":"2023-02-11T12:18:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=73949"},"modified":"2025-09-09T17:17:30","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T14:17:30","slug":"bny-mellon-says-clients-are-increasingly-interested-in-cryptocurrencies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/bny-mellon-says-clients-are-increasingly-interested-in-cryptocurrencies\/","title":{"rendered":"BNY Mellon says clients are increasingly interested in cryptocurrencies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michael Demissi, head of the bank&#8217;s Advanced Solutions division, told a fintech and regulation conference hosted by Afore Consulting that cryptocurrencies have firmly entrenched themselves in the financial sector. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/investors-absolutely-interested-digital-assets-bny-mellon-2023-02-08\/\">Reuters<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe see that clients are absolutely interested in digital assets,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Citing the October 2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnymellon.com\/content\/dam\/bnymellon\/documents\/pdf\/insights\/migration-digital-assets-survey.pdf\">\u0438\u0441\u0441\u043b\u0435\u0434\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0438\u0435<\/a> by BNY Mellon, Demissi noted that more than 90% of the bank&#8217;s clients plan to invest in tokenised assets in the near future.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cWe need clear regulation, rules, and responsible participants who can offer reliable services that justify investors\u2019 trust,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In January 2022, BNY Mellon chief financial officer Emily Portni <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bny-mellon-urges-us-regulators-to-clarify-crypto-regulation\">urged<\/a> U.S. authorities to clarify cryptocurrency regulation.<\/p>\n<p>In October, the WSJ reported that the bank <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/wsj-bny-mellon-clients-will-be-able-to-store-bitcoin-and-ethereum\">will allow clients to store digital assets<\/a> alongside traditional financial instruments.
