The restrictions do not apply to users outside the United States or to non-residents of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Other Nexo services will not be affected. The company urged account holders who are mistakenly flagged as U.S. residents to update their information and provide a bank statement, a utility bill, the latest tax return, or a valid lease agreement.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;The action plan reflects our belief that developing clear regulatory frameworks is the best way to protect the crypto industry and to bring it safely into the mainstream in compliance with the rules,&#8221; the platform&#8217;s representatives said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In September 2022, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/eight-us-regulators-file-lawsuits-against-nexo\">overseeing authorities of several states<\/a>, deemed EIP to be securities.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in 2023, Nexo reached settlements with regulators and agreed <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/nexo-to-pay-45-million-in-fines-to-u-s-regulators\">to pay $45 million in fines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, similar charges by the SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bloomberg-blockfi-to-pay-100-million-in-fines-to-us-regulators\">settled<\/a> with BlockFi. In its case the amount of the penalty was $100 million.
