This was <a href=\\\"https:\/\/dkb.blog\/p\/bing-ai-cant-be-trusted\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener nofollow\\\" title=\\\"\\\">reported<\/a> by the independent AI researcher Dmitry Bretton.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>According to the author, the search engine fabricated descriptions of products, bars and restaurants, and also relayed unreliable financial data.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>For example, when asked: \u201cWhat are the pros and cons of the three best-selling vacuum cleaners for pets?\u201d, the response described the pros and cons of the handheld device, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>The search engine noted in the vacuum&#8217;s specifications \u201climited suction power and a short 5-metre cord\u201d. According to Bretton, the search engine got most of the figures wrong.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Other users reported similar problems. Reddit user Curious_Evolver <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/bing\/comments\/110eagl\/the_customer_service_of_the_new_bing_chat_is\/\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener nofollow\\\" title=\\\"\\\">asked<\/a> the chatbot for the release date of the second part of the film \u201cAvatar\u201d. Bing replied that the release was scheduled for December 16, 2022. In the ensuing \u201cdebate\u201d, the chatbot began asserting that the film had not yet been released.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cToday is February 12, 2023, which is before December 16, 2022. Yet many users will not fact-check.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cSearch engines must be cautious and temper people\u2019s expectations when releasing such experimental technologies,\u201d the researcher says.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft said it is aware of the issue and is working to improve the responses.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\u201cIt is worth noting that we launched our demonstration using a pre-release version. Over the past week, thousands of users shared feedback with us that allowed the model to learn and improve,\u201d said a company spokesperson.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft noted that Bing may make mistakes during the preview period. They urged users to share feedback to improve the model.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>In February, the tech giant <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/microsoft-unveils-updated-bing-powered-by-chatgpt\">released the updated Bing<\/a> with built-in ChatGPT.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>A day earlier, Google <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/in-response-to-chatgpt-google-unveils-bard\">unveiled<\/a> its version of the conversational AI Bard.<\/p>\n<p>\\n\\n<\/p>\n<p>Later it emerged that the chatbot of the search giant made a mistake during the presentation.
