{"id":74601,"date":"2023-02-24T11:52:34","date_gmt":"2023-02-24T09:52:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=74601"},"modified":"2025-09-09T21:05:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T18:05:12","slug":"dapper-labs-to-cut-a-further-20-of-its-staff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/dapper-labs-to-cut-a-further-20-of-its-staff\/","title":{"rendered":"Dapper Labs to cut a further 20% of its staff"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Canadian NFT company Dapper Labs will lay off a further 20% of its staff after cutting 22% in November 2022. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theblock.co\/post\/214755\/dapper-labs-said-to-lay-off-20-more-of-its-full-time-employees\">The Block<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>Media reports say that in the autumn <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/dapper-labs-cuts-22-of-its-staff\">approximately 134 employees of the firm<\/a> left the company.<\/p>\n<p>The CEO Roham Garegozlou named the layoffs a &#8220;corporate restructuring.&#8221; He said the company is in a &#8220;stable financial position and has no outstanding debt.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSo, after almost two years of work, numerous restructurings and layoffs, my time has come. In late February, the startup behind the network, Immutable, announced a <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/media-reports-a-second-wave-of-layoffs-at-immutable\">new wave of staff optimization<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On February 22, a federal judge did not support Dapper Labs\u2019 bid to dismiss the class action against the company. Investors accused the firm of offering unregistered securities in the form of NBA Top Shot NFTs.<\/p>\n<p>The company noted that the court&#8217;s decision is not a final ruling on the case. Industry lawyers such as Jake Chervinsky and Bryan Christenson confirmed this view. The latter noted that the case could drag on for years.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Absolutely. The order in the Dapper Labs case is NOT an affirmative determination that NBA Top Shot moments are securities.
