It is a mobile tool that allows people to undergo identification without sacrificing anonymity.<\/p>\n<p>The primary method of identity verification is the Orb iris scanner. However, users also have access to less precise verification methods, such as by phone number.<\/p>\n<p>Users can obtain World ID on any compatible mobile wallet. One option is the World app, which is in beta testing.<\/p>\n<p>Orb verification is available in Argentina, India, Spain, Kenya, Portugal and Chile. Deployment of the scanners in other countries will take place later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Worldcoin highlighted sign-in as the simplest way to use World ID. Other potential applications could include protection and moderation on social networks, voting in <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-dao-decentralised-autonomous-organisation\">the DAO<\/a>, support for unsecured loans and the distribution of aid.<\/p>\n<p>The first demonstration of the technology will be verification on Discord \u2014 a popular social network among crypto projects.<\/p>\n<p>To use the SDK, developers must sign up on the waitlist. It includes a web widget, a developer portal, a development simulator, examples and tutorials.<\/p>\n<p>The Orb iris scanner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-06-29\/sam-altman-s-worldcoin-will-give-free-crypto-for-eyeball-scans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">\u043f\u0440\u0435\u0434\u0441\u0442\u0430\u0432\u0438\u043b\u0438<\/a> in June 2021. Sada also said that if a better method of identity verification existed, Worldcoin would have abandoned Orb.<\/p>\n<p>Worldcoin was founded in 2019. One of its founders is Sam Altman \u2014 chief executive of OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p>The project is currently valued at $3 billion after reports of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/andreessen-horowitz-khosla-back-worldcoin-in-deal-valuing-tokens-at-3-billion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"\">\u043f\u0440\u0438\u0432\u043b\u0435\u0447\u0435\u043d\u0438\u0438<\/a> $100 million from Khosla Ventures and a16z in March 2022.
