A darknet-forum user has put up for sale the data of the cryptocurrency exchange Tetchange. This was reported by the Telegram channel \u201cInformation Leaks\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In the March 16 advertisement, an unknown person offers to buy the database of more than 6,000 platform clients and all the exchange transactions they conducted.<\/p>\n

According to a post on the Tetchange site, from March 17 the exchange closed all branches and halted operations due to a partial breach of its servers.<\/p>\n

In the Russian Federation, the exchange’s office was located in \u201cMoscow-City\u201d<\/a>. Its branches were also opened in Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe incident was entirely provoked by scammers. To avoid unnecessary complications, we paused our work. The problem is now resolved and there is no threat of such an incident to our database; we have resumed our activities,\u201d the exchange’s representatives said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

They also added that, at present, the exchange provides services only in Russia, Armenia and Georgia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

According to Chainalysis<\/a>, from 2019 to 2021 Tet\u0441hange processed transactions totaling $21.9 million. Of these, 21% \u2014 $4.6 million \u2014 were related to laundering funds obtained criminally, according to the service.<\/p>\n

In particular, analysts claim that the exchange received more than $1 million from darknet marketplaces and $600,000 from ransomware operators.<\/p>\n
