Irish farmer Tom Campbell has found a way to use the byproducts of livestock for Bitcoin mining<\/a>. This is reported by Cointelegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The farmer generates renewable energy using anaerobic digestion. He digests the manure to such a degree that methane is released, which can be used to generate electricity.<\/p>\n

He mainly uses this trick to power his farm. However, when there is surplus energy that cannot be exported to the grid, the farmer mines Bitcoin.<\/p>\n

According to the entrepreneur, the ‘methane method’ produces up to 700 kW of electricity, equivalent to 12,000 households.<\/p>\n

According to Irish government calculations, if 41% of farmers begin to use Campbell’s technology to generate ‘green electricity’, they could generate enough power to supply the country’s entire residential infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Additionally, this would help significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, of which 35% are attributed to the agricultural sector.<\/p>\n

Earlier, mining company TeraWulf tapped 50 MW<\/a> from a nuclear power plant to mine Bitcoin.<\/p>\n

Earlier in March, the international environmental organization Greenpeace introduced<\/a> a new mascot for the campaign against Bitcoin mining in the form of ‘Satoshi’s Skull’.<\/p>\n
