In his view, such payment instruments are &#8216;the ultimate mechanism for social surveillance and control&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy stated that the White House has colluded with financial institutions to destabilise the crypto market.<\/p>\n<p>The presidential candidate also noted that the Fed&#8217;s payment system FedNow, developed by the Fed, &#8216;differs from CBDC technically, but not in terms of civil liberties&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also criticised the digital dollar.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"twitter-tweet\\\">\n<p lang=\\\"en\\\" dir=\\\"ltr\\\">It is not merely \u201cideal\u201d that major changes in policy receive specific authorization from Congress; it is constitutionally required.<\/p>\n<p>Unaccountable institutions cannot impose a CBDC on Americans. In his view, its development &#8216;smears a slippery path to financial servitude and political tyranny&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2022, Federal Reserve Board member Christopher Waller <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/fed-governor-criticises-idea-of-launching-a-digital-dollar\">criticised<\/a> the idea of launching a digital dollar. He argued that it would not strengthen the United States&#8217; position on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2023, Republican Tom Emmer <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/u-s-congressman-flags-privacy-threat-from-cbdc-rollout\">stated<\/a> that the digital dollar could facilitate &#8216;financial control&#8217; over citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier he <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/u-s-congressman-opposes-fed-control-over-the-digital-dollar\">introduced a bill<\/a> to protect citizens&#8217; privacy when using CBDC.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Robert F.
