Read more ?<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LzZllFfHaQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/LzZllFfHaQ<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/q1CNfW1npm\">pic.twitter.com\/q1CNfW1npm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Financial Services GOP (@FinancialCmte) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FinancialCmte\/status\/1646611936623173633?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 13, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction with the nature of the documents provided by the SEC in response to the February 10 request.<\/p>\n<p>In it, McHenry and Huizenga <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/u-s-congressman-accuses-sec-chief-of-hindering-crypto-industry-development\">demanded<\/a> records and transcripts between the SEC&#8217;s enforcement division and the Office of the Chairman with the U.S. Department of Justice regarding indictment timelines and Bankman-Fried&#8217;s arrest.<\/p>\n<p>On December 13, 2022, SBF was due to testify before the House Financial Services Committee; the following day, similar hearings <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/sam-bankman-fried-ignores-summons-to-u-s-senate-hearings\">were scheduled<\/a> by the Senate Banking Committee.<\/p>\n<p>On the scheduled date Bahamian authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bahamas-authorities-arrest-ftx-founder-sam-bankman-fried\">arrested<\/a> Bankman-Fried at the request of the U.S. government. SBF&#8217;s testimony before Congress did not take place.<\/p>\n<p>The SEC missed the deadlines for producing documents, hindering the committee&#8217;s work. Staff handed over 232 pages of data that were publicly available and did not answer the questions posed, lawmakers said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>The committee will consider compulsory measures to obtain the requested information if it is not provided,<\/em> they warned.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Lawmakers hope to receive a response ahead of the April 18 hearing featuring Chair Gary Gensler.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2023, lawyers for the former FTX <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/new-bail-terms-agreed-for-sam-bankman-fried\">reached a deal<\/a> with U.S. prosecutors on new terms of his release. The agreement must be approved by a court.
