{"id":78975,"date":"2023-05-19T11:06:57","date_gmt":"2023-05-19T08:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=78975"},"modified":"2025-09-11T08:22:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T05:22:53","slug":"jack-dorsey-leads-6-million-seed-round-for-azteco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/jack-dorsey-leads-6-million-seed-round-for-azteco\/","title":{"rendered":"Jack Dorsey Leads $6 Million Seed Round for Azteco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Block&#8217;s CEO Jack Dorsey led a $6 million seed funding round for the crypto-payments company Azteco, according to a <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.co.uk\/news-releases\/azteco-announces-6-million-seed-funding-round-301826788.html\\\">press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Among the other investors are: Lightning Ventures, Hivemind Ventures, Ride Wave Ventures, Aleka Capital, Visary Capital, Gaingels, and entrepreneur Sunil Rajaraman.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\\&#8221;My investment in Azteco stems from a deep respect for their mission,\\&#8221; Dorsey said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Azteco is a startup focused on regions with \\&#8221;unreliable and unstable economies.\\&#8221; The company issues so-called \\&#8221;Bitcoin vouchers\\&#8221; that can be exchanged for fiat at dedicated points of sale or online.<\/p>\n<p>The service will launch in 195 countries where access to digital assets is restricted due to the prevalence of cash and underdeveloped electronic banking.<\/p>\n<p>According to Azteco&#8217;s plan, the project will also simplify online purchases of the first cryptocurrency, without requiring account creation or completing the full KYC. <span data-descr=\\\"Know Your Customer\\\" class=\\\"old_tooltip\\\">KYC<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\\\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\\\">\n<p>\\&#8221;Two billion people around the world have smartphones but lack access to traditional financial services.
