This was stated by Dan O\u2019Prey, head of product for the institutional platform, in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/cointelegraph.com\/news\/blockchain-technology-platform-bakkt-looks-toward-europe-after-mica\">Cointelegraph<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He praised the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/eu-approves-regulation-of-the-crypto-industry\">20 April<\/a> regulation bill for the crypto-asset market (<span data-descr=\"Markets in Crypto Assets \u2014 markets in crypto assets\" class=\"old_tooltip\">MiCA<\/span>).<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cAny form of clarity is generally good. [\u2026] At least, people know where they stand, know how they can operate, and are confident that they are in compliance with the requirements. This allows companies and institutions to immerse themselves in the crypto industry,\u201d explained O\u2019Prey.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In his view, regions that provide clear regulation for digital assets \u201creceive a large influx of talent, capital and jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bakkt currently provides services only in the United States. The executive noted that the company \u201cis working with some partners\u201d to identify potential jurisdictions for expansion.<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Prey also added that \u201ca significant portion of the primary institutional interest\u201d is focused on bitcoin, despite the consequences of the <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/ftx-group-files-for-bankruptcy-sam-bankman-fried-resigns-as-ceo\">collapse of FTX<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the first cryptocurrency, he said that the asset has only benefited from the lack of a proper legal framework in the United States, as regulators had previously designated it a commodity.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, this legal status has been \u201ca significant obstacle\u201d to the adoption of bitcoin in the United States, according to O\u2019Prey.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in March, Circle \u2014 co-emitter of the USD Coin stablecoin \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/circle-applies-for-licenses-in-france\">filed applications<\/a> in France to obtain local licenses as a digital asset service provider and an electronic money institution.<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/coinbase-ceo-signals-possible-exit-from-the-u-s-market\">stated<\/a> that the crypto exchange could leave the U.S. market.
