In April he <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/john-f-kennedys-nephew-criticises-cbdc-and-speaks-in-defence-of-bitcoin\">stated<\/a> that Bitcoin and other digital assets serve as an alternative to the traditional financial system.<\/p>\n<p>In May the politician <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/u-s-presidential-candidates-begin-accepting-bitcoin-donations\">began accepting<\/a> donations in digital gold and during the Bitcoin 2023 conference called it &#8216;a symbol of democracy and freedom&#8217;. Previously he <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/robert-f-kennedy-jr-john-f-kennedys-nephew-criticised-the-sec-for-a-war-on-crypto\">criticized<\/a> <span data-descr=\"Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span> and <span data-descr=\"Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation\" class=\"old_tooltip\">FDIC<\/span> for &#8216;a war against cryptocurrencies&#8217;, which led to a banking crisis in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The presidential candidate also spoke out against <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-is-a-central-bank-digital-currency-cbdc\">CBDC<\/a>. In his view, the digital dollar will become &#8216;the ultimate mechanism of social monitoring and control&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cato.org\/survey-reports\/poll-only-16-americans-support-government-issuing-central-bank-digital-currency#78-americans-say-they-are-unlikely-use-cbdc\">a Cato Institute poll<\/a>, only 16% of Americans backed the idea of CBDC, while 34% opposed the technology&#8217;s adoption.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly half of those polled did not have a firm opinion. At the same time, only 28% of respondents had any idea about its development.<\/p>\n<p>Opposition to CBDC also comes from Kennedy&#8217;s rival \u2014 Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In May he <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/texas-lawmakers-push-to-ban-cbdc\">signed<\/a> a law against the digital dollar prohibiting its issuance and use within the state.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year in the United States <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/bipartisan-us-bill-introduced-to-ban-cbdc\">prepared<\/a> the &#8216;first bipartisan&#8217; bill that would prohibit the Federal Reserve from issuing a central bank digital currency.
