This was reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/techcabal.com\/2023\/06\/27\/kenyas-finance-bill-2023-passed\/\">TechCabal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities say that this will help stabilise the domestic economy and reduce dependence on foreign loans. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2023-05-04\/crypto-influencer-tax-in-kenya-budget-plans-as-cash-sources-dry?leadSource=uverify%20wall&#038;sref=3REHEaVI\">Bloomberg<\/a>, the president aims to double state revenues over five years to 5 trillion shillings ($36.7 billion).<\/p>\n<p>Details of Kenya&#8217;s plans to introduce a tax on cryptocurrency transactions <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/kenya-to-impose-tax-on-digital-asset-transactions\">became known<\/a> in May. The Kenyan Blockchain Association (BAK) has criticised the new law.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\n<cite>&#8220;Taxing all digital assets in the same way could stifle innovation and hinder growth in the sectors of the industry,&#8221; the organisation said.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>BAK added that such taxation could be unfair due to the high volatility of crypto assets.<\/p>\n<p>According to a UN report, Kenya ranks fifth worldwide in cryptocurrency adoption.
