Tempo, the local news agency, reports.<\/p>\n<p>The country\u2019s Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (BAPPEBTI) will permit operations with digital assets only through the state platform.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-text-wrappers-update-2 article_update\"><time class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_time\">July 21, 2023 | 13:00<\/time><span class=\"gtb_text-wrappers_update_head\">Update: <\/span><\/p>\n<p>On July 20, BAPPEBTI <a href=\"https:\/\/bappebti.go.id\/siaran_pers\/detail\/12795\" title=\"\">announced<\/a> the launch of the state cryptocurrency exchange.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u00ab[\u2026] we have agreed on the exchange&#8217;s operating rules. The <span data-descr=\"know your customer\" class=\"old_tooltip\">KYC<\/span> principle is regulated there\u00bb, \u2014 said BAPPEBTI.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The regulator also conducted tests of the system integration among traders, exchanges, the clearing house and the depository. The agency sent a notice to Indonesia&#8217;s Ministry of Trade outlining its plans \u2014 if approved, the regulator will sign the authorization granting licensed traders a month to join the platform.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the crypto exchange was slated to open in 2021, but the project was postponed. In September 2022, authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/indonesia-to-launch-a-state-backed-bitcoin-exchange\">announced its launch<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In Indonesia <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/indonesia-to-impose-vat-and-income-tax-on-cryptocurrency-transactions\">VAT is charged<\/a> on digital asset transactions and capital gains tax on such investments at 0.1% in both cases. The legislation bans using them as a means of payment.<\/p>\n<p>In February 2023, President Joko Widodo <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/in-indonesia-cryptocurrencies-are-classified-as-securities\">signed<\/a> the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law.
