{"id":81802,"date":"2023-07-17T14:58:39","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T11:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=81802"},"modified":"2025-09-12T01:14:50","modified_gmt":"2025-09-11T22:14:50","slug":"fsb-at-the-g20-outlines-recommendations-for-global-crypto-regulation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/fsb-at-the-g20-outlines-recommendations-for-global-crypto-regulation\/","title":{"rendered":"FSB at the G20 outlines recommendations for global crypto regulation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Financial Stability Board (FSB) under the <span data-descr=\"G20\" class=\"old_tooltip\">G20<\/span> has developed recommendations for a global regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/BOrocXtkPtQFNBe-GLPmt_v3dSbZgePlnhv-bgBh6nmIKyW2GeeOsYjKha5gr2O0iaf-VxKIghIkd-lD7t7QKxAG-mMvedHNqOQUypnB3t4ZZ1yXzR4SVRaZmSq_0IcMfNaIQHs4yeLPFX9JvFdBhLI\" alt=\"FSB at the G20 outlines recommendations for global crypto regulation\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Data: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FinStbBoard\/status\/1680894888806690819\">Twitter<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The document consists of two sets of recommendations:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>high-level guidance on the regulation of digital assets in general;<\/li>\n<li>revised high-level recommendations for &#8216;global stablecoin&#8217;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to the document, any issuer <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/what-are-stablecoins\">stablecoin<\/a> must have one or more identifiable and responsible legal or natural persons \u2014 an &#8216;governing body&#8217;. It must hold reserves in a minimum 1:1 ratio and be licensed to operate in each jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>In the view of the FSB, crypto platforms should separate clients\u2019 digital assets from their own funds and clearly delineate their functions to avoid conflicts of interest. Regulators, in turn, must ensure cross-border cooperation in supervising industry participants.<\/p>\n<p>The guidance is recommended for the world\u2019s 20 leading economies and is built on the principle &#8216;same activity, same risk, same regulation.&#8217; By the end of 2025, the FSB intends to review the global implementation of the recommendations worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the G20\u2019s advisory body <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/g20-regulator-flags-instability-in-stablecoins\">concluded<\/a> that none of the existing stablecoins meets the standards set for digital assets by the central banks of the world\u2019s largest economies.<\/p>\n<p>In December 2022 the FSB <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/financial-stability-board-to-tighten-crypto-regulation\">announced<\/a> proposals for regulating the crypto market with a concrete timetable for their implementation.
