On July 20, the Chainlink team of decentralized oracles<\/a> Chainlink will open<\/a> early access to the Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) \u2014 the cross-chain interoperability protocol.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

The solution is designed to<\/a> unite dapps<\/span> across public and private blockchains.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

Initially, CCIP will be available in the Arbitrum Goerli, Avalanche Fuji, Ethereum Sepolia, Optimism Goerli and Polygon Mumbai testnets.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThe protocol will provide a unified interface for seamless interaction,\u201d<\/em> the developers explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

CCIP has already integrated<\/a> Synthetix (the Synth Teleporters function). BGD Labs has begun<\/a> implementing the protocol in Aave.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

Unlike typical cross-chain bridges that use wrapped assets, Chainlink’s CCIP uses mechanisms with smart-contract support between \u201ctrusted token pools\u201d across different blockchains.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

According to the developers, this approach enables seamless interaction between different chains.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

CCIP includes an active risk-management network \u2014 it provides an additional layer of security through continuous monitoring and validation of the protocol\u2019s behavior, as well as independent cross-chain operation checks for potential errors.<\/p>\n

CCIP may include cross-chain dapps. As a use case, the team cited a cross-chain lending application. Users will be able to post collateral in one blockchain and borrow assets in another.<\/p>\n

\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

Additional cross-chain interactions could include data storage, liquid staking<\/a> and games.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs Web 2.0 needed TCP\/IP to connect isolated islands of computer networks, Web3<\/a> requires a standard of functional interoperability to connect isolated blockchains,\u201d<\/em> the developers explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\\n\\n\\n<\/p>\n

Use cases could extend beyond dapps and into TradFi<\/span>.<\/p>\n

In September 2022, Chainlink and SWIFT agreed to collaborate<\/a>. CCIP will enable instructions for on-chain transfers of crypto assets in interbank messages.<\/p>\n
