The United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) has published two vacancies for experts in cryptocurrency-related crime.<\/p>\n

Potential employees are offered a place in a new Digital Assets group, which is part of the Complex Financial Crime Division.<\/p>\n

Candidates should be versed in relevant law, have experience in blockchain analysis and investigations of similar cases. The ideal candidate would be a current police officer with accreditation as a financial investigator.<\/p>\n

The NCA is offering an annual salary of \u00a347,380 and other civil-service benefits.<\/p>\n

In January 2023, the agency formed<\/a> a dedicated crypto-incidents unit \u2014 NCCU Crypto Cell. According to agency representatives, the unit is equipped with \u201cthe necessary tools and powers\u201d to track digital assets within the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the NCA said<\/a> that the widespread use of cryptocurrencies helps criminals launder illicit funds. Law enforcement also noted Bitcoin’s suitability for sanctions evasion, extortion, and use of darknet marketplaces.<\/p>\n

In July 2023, UK lawmakers supported<\/a> a bill to seize and freeze digital assets tied to crime.<\/p>\n
