The data come from <span data-descr=\"Chicago Mercantile Exchange\" class=\"old_tooltip\">CME<\/span>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/markets\/2023\/07\/27\/bitcoin-ether-cme-futures-saw-record-participation-from-large-traders-in-q2\/\">CoinDesk<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n<p>A standard Bitcoin futures contract is equivalent to 5 BTC, and Ethereum futures to 50 ETH.<\/p>\n<p>Open interest (OI) on standard futures for digital gold in the first half of the year averaged at a historic high of 14,800 contracts (+15% vs 2022). Open interest for Bitcoin options reached a record 9,400 contracts (+175% vs 2022).<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-478.webp\" alt=\"image-478\" class=\"wp-image-212376\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Data: CME.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u201cInstitutional interest grew throughout the quarter as investors sought regulated venues and products for hedging in light of rising volatility,\u201d<\/em> the platform\u2019s representatives explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trading volumes also rose, including both futures and options on cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n<p>As reported, on July 31 <a href=\"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/news\/cme-to-launch-ether-bitcoin-ratio-futures\">trading will begin<\/a> for the Ethereum-to-Bitcoin ratio based on their futures.
